Thomas F. Keenan
Thomas Keenan is the Executive Vice President of Marine Operations of Liberty Maritime Corporation. His responsibilities include Engineering, Operations, Insurance & Personnel, Strategic Planning and Quality Management departments. Prior to joining Liberty in 2003, Mr. Keenan served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of American V. Ships Marine and International Marine Carriers. During his 22 years in that position, he was responsible for operational and technical engineering matters for all owned and managed vessels which comprised a fleet of 36 ships. Prior to his tenure at American V. Ships Marine/IMC, Mr. Keenan was Marine Superintendent Engineer of Apex Marine Corporation for seven years.
In 1992, Mr. Keenan was named as the Distinguished Alumnus of the State University of New York. In 1993, he was awarded the Alumnus of the Year for the Maritime College. In 2007, Mr. Keenan was honored for his ongoing contributions to SUNY Maritime College.
Mr. Keenan currently serves on a number of professional, educational and charitable boards and committees, including the State University of New York, the International Association of Dry Cargo Ship Owners and other educational institutions and charities. Mr. Keenan is a member of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and serves on ABS’s Technical and Ship Operations Committees. Additionally, he is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers as well as the Society of Marine Port Engineers. Mr. Keenan is also a member of Intercargo’s CASTEC Technical Advisory Board.
Mr. Keenan was born on June 16, 1949 in New York City, he graduated from the Maritime College of the State University of New York in 1971 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Marine), USCG Engineering License and a commission as Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
